“The Cops Are Telling Me To PUNCH YOU OUT”

While documenting activity at Union Station, I witnessed several medical emergencies within a short period of time. 2 of them stand out.

Earlier in the evening, a man appeared to be experiencing a serious medical issue. After regaining awareness, he spoke with me calmly and even expressed support for documenting what’s happening around Union Station.

Later, a second emergency unfolded nearby involving CPR. Police were present at the scene. During that response, I observed an officer leave the immediate medical area and approach the same man I had filmed earlier.

When I walked over and began filming the interaction, the officer walked away. The man then told me on camera that the officer had instructed him to “punch me out.”

This interaction is recorded on three separate cameras.

After reviewing the footage further, I also noticed a separate interaction between the officer and a security guard. Not long after that conversation, the same guard bumped me with his shoulder as he walked past.

I contacted Toronto Police 52 Division, and a Staff Sergeant advised that the matter is now under investigation.

This incident also comes at a time when public trust is already strained due to the ongoing Project South allegations involving members of the same police service. Those allegations include claims that sensitive information was allegedly leaked, including a jail guard’s address, to individuals who were later arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit murder. Those matters remain before the courts and are unproven allegations.

This video does not make conclusions. It presents what was documented and raises questions about what occurred.

If an officer were confirmed to have encouraged a civilian to assault someone, it could raise serious professional misconduct concerns, and depending on the facts, potentially criminal questions. That determination would depend on evidence and the outcome of an investigation.

The goal of this video is transparency and public discussion.
