The suspect in a Duke Lane shooting in Concord on July 2 committed suicide in Nashua Monday rather than be taken into custody by police, officials said.
United States Marshall’s Joint Fugitive Task Force located Evan Mitchell Hollins at a Nashua residence, according to Concord Deputy Police Chief John Thomas. Hollins was wanted on a slew of charges, including attempted murder, assault with a firearm, felonious use of a firearm and criminal threatening with a deadly weapon.
Deputies communicated with Hollins in an effort to negotiate a peaceful surrender, police said.
“Hollins refused to exit the residence and ultimately took his own life with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot,” police said in a statement.
Hollins, who was 41, was suspected of shooting another man in the early morning hours of July 2 on Duke Lane in Concord. The victim was taken to Concord Hospital with serious injuries.
Hollins was pronounced dead at Southern New Hampshire Medical Hospital in Nashua.
“No law enforcement officers discharged their firearms during this incident and no one else sustained any injuries,” police said.
