Progress In Search For Rabbi’s Killer in North Miami Beach

Investigators are making progress in tracking down the gunman who shot and killed a rabbi in North Miami Beach.

Investigators said they’ve obtained home surveillance video that shows a man running from the scene shortly after the shooting.

Meanwhile, residents have stepped up security efforts in the area.

Some residents have even dug into their own pockets to pay for private patrols. Others have started an initiative to raise half a million dollars to install cameras on every block.

But the Jewish community in North Miami Beach is still on edge, especially amid the tension in the Middle East.

Rabbi Joseph Raksin was gunned down while walking to temple earlier this month. He was visiting relatives at the time. Police said they are now searching for two men involved in the shooting.

“I find it hard to believe there aren’t several hundred people in somebody’s community that knows these two guys are murderers,” said Chaim Berkowitz, a concerned resident in the area. “These guys are big guys in their neighborhoods, so somebody for sure knows these two guys are murderers and nothing is happening about it.”

Crime stoppers is offering a reward of up to $3,000 for information related to the case, according to the Miami-Dade Police Department.
