Police Brutality: Coral Springs, FL Police Department False Arrest

Our client, an innocent individual, was unjustly beaten by the Coral Springs Police Department without any justifiable cause.

As the incident unfolded near Coral Glades High School and the Coral Springs Sports Plex, our client reported the theft of their shoes. Two Coral Springs police officers approached and engaged in a conversation. Despite the lack of evidence against our client, the officers decided to confront a person suspected by them.

In the body camera footage, we witness the officers discussing their approach. While one officer suggested a consensual encounter to determine if the suspect wanted to talk, the other officer believed the person could be problematic. They proceeded together in a golf cart, claiming they wouldn’t run up on him. However, what happened next contradicted their words.

As our client walked away, refusing to engage in conversation, the officers pursued them aggressively. They repeatedly demanded our client to stop and talk, despite not having the legal authority to detain them. The situation escalated quickly, with the officers tackling and brutally assaulting our client. They even threatened to tase them. The excessive force used by the officers was unwarranted and inexcusable.

Shockingly, the police charged our client with four crimes: felony burglary of a structure, misdemeanor petty theft, resisting arrest, and trespassing. These charges were baseless, as there was no evidence connecting our client to the alleged crimes. It later came to light that one of the officers had a personal vendetta against our client, stemming from a previous rivalry.

At the Rossen Law Firm, we took immediate action to defend our client’s rights. We successfully had the felony case dismissed within two weeks and fought tirelessly to have the remaining misdemeanor charges dropped. After nine months of dedication, all four charges were ultimately dismissed.
