Orlando, Florida — On July 16, 2024, just before 12 p.m., Orange County Deputies responded to the Chevron gas station at 901 W. Michigan St. regarding a man behaving erratically after his vehicle crashed into another vehicle. The man had reportedly also punched someone in the face and smashed the window of another person’s truck to try to carjack the truck. When deputies arrived, the man approached deputies holding a metal rod, refused their commands, then continued to run at deputies. One deputy attempted to use his Taser on the man, but it was ineffective. When the suspect ran at deputies again with the metal rod, two deputies fired their service weapons, striking the suspect. He was secured, deputies and fire rescue provided aid, and he was transported to the hospital. The suspect now faces charges of Attempted Carjacking, Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, and Battery.
