In this video, The Lallantop’s Kuldeep Mishra explained about the emerging online financial frauds in india. With the rapid rise of digital transactions in India, the threat of online financial fraud has also escalated. Cybercriminals are constantly evolving their techniques to exploit vulnerabilities in digital platforms, targeting individuals and businesses alike. Some of the most common types of online financial frauds include phishing scams, SIM swapping, and vishing. Phishing involves tricking users into revealing sensitive information like passwords or OTPs through fake emails or websites designed to look legitimate. Similarly, SIM swapping occurs when fraudsters duplicate a victim’s SIM card to access OTPs, facilitating unauthorized transactions. Vishing, or voice phishing, involves fraudsters impersonating bank officials over the phone to extract personal details, such as PINs or OTPs, under the pretense of solving an account issue. Credit and debit card fraud is another widespread issue, where criminals use stolen card details obtained through phishing, data breaches, or skimming devices to make unauthorized purchases. Online shopping frauds are also rampant, with scammers setting up fake e-commerce sites that offer products at low prices but either never deliver or send substandard items. Investment frauds, on the other hand, lure individuals with promises of high returns on non-existent schemes, especially in the growing sectors of online trading and cryptocurrency. Another prevalent fraud is loan scams, where fraudsters offer fake loans and charge high upfront fees without ever providing the loan. Ransomware attacks are also a growing threat, where malicious software encrypts a user’s files and demands payment to restore access. QR code frauds have also emerged, where scammers trick users into scanning fake QR codes, leading to unintentional money transfers. To safeguard against these frauds, individuals should remain vigilant, avoid sharing personal information, and only use trusted platforms for online transactions. Double-checking the authenticity of emails, phone calls, and websites is essential to avoid falling victim to these scams. Watch the video to know more.
