Queens, NY
One motorcyclist died and another was in critical condition after separately colliding with a car in Queens Sunday, per witnesses.
A motorcycle group was on their motorcycles heading westbound on Beach Channel Drive and 45th street traveling at 65 MPH or more when they collided with a car that ran a stop sign on a way to deliver pizza at Beach 45th St. in Edgemere about 1:10 p.m., witnesses said.
One of the motorcyclists — who was not immediately identified — died on impact at the scene. Witnesses say the driver lost part of his head, arm and leg, and the motorcycle he was on was engulfed in flames upon impact.
The FDNY was on the scene within 6 minutes and the NYPD arrived 12 minutes after the crash and then covered the body lying on the street. The other 33-year-old victim was rushed to Jamaica Hospital in critical condition with his motorcycle lodged in a car and fence.
A 52-year-old driver of the car was taken to St. John’s Episcopal Hospital where he was expected to recover, police said.
There were no immediate charges.
