During the Finance Bill 2024 protests in Kenya, a tragic incident occurred involving a protester named Dominic, who was severely injured by a teargas canister fired by a police officer. The protests were part of a nationwide demonstration against the proposed tax increases in the Finance Bill. The police response to the protests was marked by brutality, with numerous incidents of excessive force. Chief Inspector David Maina of the Rapid Deployment Unit was also seriously injured when a teargas canister exploded in his hands, causing the loss of both forearms. This incident, among others, highlighted the severe police brutality witnessed during the protests, with many citizens and journalists reporting violent clashes and the use of excessive force by the police​. He joins us in the new episode of “Obinna Show Live” to talk about the traumatizing experience and how life has been since the incident. He expresses his fear and confusion over why the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) is still investigating, despite the clear video evidence of the event.
