SDNY MAG COURT
EXCLUSIVE, Dec 2 –Â In
the U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York on December 2, a
detention or bond proceeding
was held by Magistrate Judge
Stewart D. Aaron on a man
charged with selling guns to
two men already in state
custody for plans to “shoot up
a synagogue,” Christopher
Brown, 21, and Matthew Mahrer,
22.
 Presented
in Federal court on December 2
was defendant / gun-seller
Hakime, who works with
detained youth at the NYC
Administration for Children’s
Services. Inner City Press was
present, the only media (and
only non-involved person)
there. Live-tweeted thread:
OK – now at bail
hearing for Hakime, charged
with transporting Glock gun to
a 21 year old man who said he
wanted to “shoot up” a
synagogue. Federal Defender is
asking for release
Asst US Attorney
Kushner says this defendant
told the gun-synagogue guy to
wipe his fingerprints off the
gun. Oh and he works for
Administration for Children’s
Services, in “youth
development.” The gun –
synagogue duo are 20 and 21
years old.
AUSA: This
defendant is trying to sell
Poconos house and Range Rover
he used to drive gun –
synagogue duo. He has access
to two apartments on 2d Ave,
brother in Puerto Rico,
“partner” with German
passport. “He claims to have
ties to Haiti.”
 AUSA: He
faces loss of gov’t job and of
his pension, so he has motive
to flee. [But wouldn’t he lose
job that way, too?]
 Federal
Defender Cohen: Mr Hakime is
59, has worked for NYC ACS for
8 years. His partner “Irene
Market” is here and co-owns
the Poconos house with him.
Federal Defender:
The Bail Reform Act is
forward-looking. Release him
on $75,000 bond, secured
by his $100,000 share in
Poconos house. [He got a
publicly funder Federal
Defender]
 Federal
Defender: We hope he keeps his
job with the Administration
for Children’s Services, where
he works with detained youth.
AUSA: He has been
recorded offering guns to
young people. Irene Market
offered to hold drugs for him,
and ditched her phone same day
Judge Aaron has
gone back to robing room with
pre trial services. Ruling
soon. ALL RISE! Judge: I
detain you based on nature of
the crime. I saw the photos of
the evidence removed.
Judge: You could
appeal. We are adjourned.
The case is US v.
Hakime, 22-mj-9635 (Aaron)
(The case was still sealed on
PACER after the proceeding).
