NEW YORK CITY — A cab driver who dragged a screaming elderly woman out of his car in Brooklyn has been arrested after a good Samaritan’s video went viral, according to a local safety patrol.
“This perpetrator has been taken into custody,” tweeted Flatbush Shomrim Safety Patrol on Wednesday.

The driver was identified as Elsakran Mohamed, 46, of Bay Ridge, in a New York Post report.

NYPD officials couldn’t confirm details to Patch, but court records show an Elsakran Mohamed who faces 10 criminal counts, including felony assault that caused an injury of a victim aged 65 or older.
The incident unfolded Aug. 31 at East 35th Street and Flatlands Avenue, according to Flatbush Shomrim Safety Patrol, which posted the video.

A woman, 78, who had requested an Access-A-Ride to make it to a physical therapy appointment said her driver drove past the drop-off spot in Marine Park, according to an ABC7 report.
An argument ensued between the two and culminated in the driver dragging the woman — who can be seen swinging her cane — from the cab as a good Samaritan walked up and took video, according to reports and the footage.

“You’re going to have to run over me,” the good Samaritan said right before the driver apparently drove his car into him.
The video ends with the woman shaken on the ground.
“I’m a 78-year-old lady, and he threw me out of the cab, he took my money, he took my phone,” the woman said in the video.
Mohamed was released on his own recognizance until an Oct. 19 hearing, according to court records.
