On April 21st, 2023, officers responded to a report of an unresponsive child at a home in Albuquerque, NM. Upon their arrival they found a deceased infant in the grandparent’s home after the suspect was accused of using illegal drugs through the night. Detectives determined the suspect was operating a vehicle under the influence of an illegal drug and put a syringe in her arm, and was known to breastfeed the baby.
Christina Bennett was arrested at that time on an outstanding felony warrant. The officers charged her with child abuse resulting in death following an investigation into allegations that she abused the infant prior to her death.
