Mass protests erupted in Manhattan outside Park East Synagogue over a controversial real estate event marketing properties in Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank.
Organisers called for the event to be shut down, saying it promotes the sale of land stolen from Palestinians and directly contributes to ongoing Israeli settler violence against Palestinians.
The gathering was held under heavy police presence, with roads blocked around the synagogue hours beforehand, as counter-protesters assembled nearby, leading to tense standoffs. Police clashed with demonstrators attempting to breach barriers, with officers using force to disperse crowds.
The event was part of a wider Israeli settlers campaign promoting real estate in settlements considered illegal under international law.
