Judge denies defense attorney’s motion to postpone trial, interrupted repeatedly by boss

PROVO, Utah (KUTV) — Supervisors of Benjamin Aldana, Kent Cody Barlow’s attorney, were called to court to find out if they can provide Barlow with the legal counsel he is entitled to have.

Aldana requested to delay Barlow’s trial due to his own father’s health. Supervisors from the Utah County Public Defenders Association attended a court hearing Tuesday.

The hearing, filled with interruptions by Aldana’s boss, tested Judge Robert Lund and showed an inherent problem with staffing levels at the Utah County Public Defenders’ Association specifically for this case.
