Crest Hill resident David Malito died after being handcuffed by Joliet police at the Shell gas station on Larkin Avenue early on Christmas Day. Plainfield Police Commander Kevin McQuaid said that none of the Joliet officers at the gas station did anything inappropriate in regard to the events that led to Malito’s death. The Will County Coroner’s Office ruled that the 39-year-old Malito died as a result of an accidental cocaine intoxication.
