Israeli leader to appear in court on corruption charges

Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to appear in court later for the first time in his corruption trial.

The Israeli prime minister has been charged with bribery, fraud and breach of trust.

He was indicted in 2019 in three cases involving gifts from millionaire friends and for allegedly seeking regulatory favours for media tycoons in return for favourable coverage.

Judges have ruled the PM must testify three times a week.

He denies any wrongdoing and has pleaded not guilty.
