The Supreme Court will hear a petition demanding that Delhi Police be directed to register an FIR against Justice Yashwant Varma. The petition questions the jurisdiction of the three-judge committee formed by the Supreme Court to investigate the case, arguing that a police investigation should be conducted instead. The petitioners seek a declaration that the alleged recovery of cash at Justice Varma’s residence constitutes a cognizable offence under criminal law.
