President-elect Donald Trump continued to attack Judge Juan Merchan hours after he was ordered to face judgment in his fraud case in New York on January 10, and also launched angry attacks on Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and Special Counsel Jack Smith.

The talk that the new president made on Friday evening about Merchan was not surprising; Trump spokesman Stephen Cheung issued a fiery rebuke of the justice earlier in the day, calling his boss’s trial a “witch hunt.”
But Trump went a step further when he fired the judge, whom he described as “corrupt” and “extremist partisan.”

“This illegal political attack is nothing but a fabricated charade,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform on Friday night. “Judge Merchan, an extreme partisan, has issued yet another order that is intentionally illegal, contrary to our Constitution, and, if he is allowed to run, will be the end of the presidency as we know it.”

He continued: “Merchan has so little respect for the Constitution that he imposes an illegal gag order on me, your president and the president-elect, just so that I cannot expose his unqualified and illegal conflicts between him and his family. I am the only political opponent in American history who is not allowed to defend myself – a despicable violation of the First Amendment!

Trump added that “every legal scholar and analyst” has unequivocally stated “that the Manhattan witch hunt is nonexistent, and is not only barred by the statute of limitations, but should never have been brought on the merits.”

He went on to list a few names, including Jonathan Turley, Elie Honig, and Alan Dershowitz, who all agree with him, according to Trump.

“Merchan adopted the Bragg hoax that, according to all legal scholars, should have been dead on arrival, and through his fraud and misconduct, gave it the appearance of life,” Trump wrote.

“While the deranged Jack Smith has been sent to The Hague, after losing all the politically manufactured cases against me, Merchan, who is far worse and more corrupt than Smith in his fight for my desperate political opponents, cannot let this charade go. Is it because of his conflicts and connections that he continues to Lawbreaking? This has to stop! It’s time to end lawfare once and for all, so we can come together as one nation, and make America great again!
