Top News | Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay, a former judge of the Calcutta High Court, joined the BJP on Thursday in the presence of Sukanta Majumdar, the state party leader, and Suvendu Adhikari, the BJP Leader. Earlier this week, Judge Abhijit Gangopadhyay announced his resignation. It seems probable that he would run in the Lok Sabha elections. Gangopadhyay’s decisions in corruption cases caused him to have many run-ins with leaders of the Trinamool Congress. Additionally, the TMC charged him with being “biassed” and making decisions that would harm the current government. Abhishek Banerjee, the nephew of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, was one of the TMC leaders against whom the previous judge had requested investigations by government authorities.
