On November 19th, 2022, Officers were dispatched to an apartment for a report of a battery occurring between a couple in Skokie, Illinois. They were advised that the suspect, later identified as Devonier, was currently trying to strangle his girlfriend. When officers arrived, they could hear screaming coming from the apartment and his girlfriend screaming “Help me!” repeatedly.
Devonier was arrested for felony, aggravated battery to an officer, and misdemeanor domestic battery. The misdemeanor domestic battery charge on him was dismissed in court; however, he was found guilty of aggravated battery to an officer and was sentenced to a two-year probation.
Since this arrest, Devonier has been arrested seven times for domestic battery, and his girlfriend, Melissa, has been arrested twice for domestic battery.
