Broad daylight Police brutality in Tenali raises serious questions

In a shocking display of police highhandedness, a group of youths were brutally beaten in full public view by police personnel near Lingaraju Centre, Tenali. The assault, carried out in broad daylight, drew concern from bystanders as uniformed officers resorted to physical violence without due legal procedure.

The individuals subjected to the beating were identified as Chebrolu John Victor (25), Sheikh Babulal alias Karimulla (21), and Doma Rakesh (25). All three hail from Tenali and Mangalagiri towns, belonging to underprivileged communities. They were reportedly taken into custody in connection with an earlier complaint lodged by Constable Kanna Chiranjeevi.

A case was registered against them under Cr.No. 42/2025 invoking multiple harsh sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and IPC, including attempt to murder and conspiracy.

However, serious questions are being raised over the manner of arrest and the justification of charges.

Such public violence by the police undermines constitutional values and due process. An impartial inquiry must be initiated to ensure accountability and justice.
