Bodycam footage of alleged police assault at Manchester Airport shown in court | LBC

A jury has been shown the moment three police officers were allegedly assaulted by two brothers at Manchester Airport.

Mohammed Fahir Amaaz, 20, and his brother Muhammad Amaad, 26, allegedly lashed out after police were called to an incident at the Starbucks café in Terminal 2 arrivals on July 23 last year, when Amaaz is said to have headbutted a customer.

Minutes later, three officers, armed PCs Zachary Marsden and Ellie Cook, and unarmed PC Lydia Ward, approached the pair at the pay station in the Terminal 2 car park.

On Monday, a jury at Liverpool Crown Court was shown shocking airport camera footage from multiple angles, which the Crown described as capturing a “high level of violence” by the brothers towards the officers.

Prosecutors say Amaaz resisted arrest as officers tried to move him away from the payment machine, prompting Amaad to step in.

Junior counsel Adam Birkby told the court that Amaaz threw 10 punches, including one that struck PC Ward in the face and knocked her to the ground. He added that Amaad landed six punches on firearms officer PC Marsden.
