🚨 Beware of Digital Arrest Scams in India! 🚨
Cybercriminals are using new tactics to trick innocent people by posing as police officers, CBI officials, or government agencies. They claim you’re involved in illegal activities like money laundering, drug trafficking, or cyber fraud and demand immediate payments to “settle” the case. These scams often happen through fake calls, emails, WhatsApp messages, or video calls where scammers even wear uniforms to look convincing.
🔴 How These Scams Work:
1️⃣ Fake Police or CBI Calls – Scammers call pretending to be from the police, CBI, or cybercrime department.
2️⃣ Threatening Legal Action – They claim you’re involved in a serious crime and show fake arrest warrants or FIRs.
3️⃣ Demand for Money – They ask you to pay a fine via UPI, bank transfer, or cryptocurrency to “avoid arrest.”
4️⃣ Video Calls for Intimidation – Scammers wear police uniforms and sit in fake offices to scare victims.
5️⃣ Use of Stolen or Fake Documents – They send false legal notices to pressure you.
🔵 How to Stay Safe:
✅ Never share personal details over the phone or email.
✅ Verify with the real police by calling the nearest station or visiting in person.
✅ Don’t panic or make payments under pressure.
✅ Check official government websites for real contact details.
✅ Report scams immediately to the Cyber Crime Portal (www.cybercrime.gov.in) or dial 1930.
