DEL RIO, Texas — About $11.9 million worth of methamphetamine was seized at the Del Rio Port of Entry in Texas, according to officials.
According to a news release from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office Field Operations officers at the Del Rio Port of Entry in Texas removed a large amount of meth from a tractor-trailer on September 5.
CBP said the tractor-trailer was inspected by a canine, and a non-intrusive system examination led to 320 packages of about 1,337 pounds of alleged meth that is worth about $11.9 million.
The tractor-trailer was hauling a shipment of diesel tank reservoir containers, according to KIDY.
“This is a massive seizure of methamphetamine, it is largest in the history of the port and it reflects the steadfast commitment of our officers to the CBP border security mission and their effective application of technology, training and experience,” said Port Director Liliana Flores, Del Rio Port of Entry in the news release.
According to KIDY, CBP seized the meth and the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigation special agents are investigating the seizure.
