NYPD Bids Final Farewell To Hero K-9 Officer Ceza

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — A hero German Shepherd who served three tours in Afghanistan before joining the NYPD has been laid to rest.

K-9 Cezar joined the NYPD in 2014 and spent the last five years securing the city’s subways with his partner, Officer Juan Rodriguez.

Cezar received a salute from police and his fellow canine officers on Valentine’s Day and he was taken for a final walk along the East River.


After serving 3 tours in Afghanistan, K9 Cezar joined the NYPD to help protect NYC. Along with his partner, Officer Rodriguez, Cezar spent the last 5 years securing our subways.
